Munoz Earns Equestrian Honors

Derryfield Equestrian team member Leah Munoz had a standout Fall season showing in multiple equitation finals receiving high honors. These classes often require consistent, exceptional performances throughout the day of the final in addition to across the entire season. Leah finished her year as Champion of the 15-17-year-old equitation for the New Hampshire Hunter Jumper Association as well as the Reserve Champion in the 3’3” Performance Hunters for the New England Horseman’s Council. Leah spent much of the summer horse showing throughout the Northeast to earn these equestrian honors with her horse, Fanfare CBF, known as Frankie. To culminate their excellent season, Leah and Frankie participated in equitation finals including the finals for New Hampshire, New England, and the United States Hunter Jumper Association 3’3” Hunter Seat Medal Finals. Leah came away with a tenth-place finish at the medal finals out of an enormous field of 95 competitors, and she was the winner of the New Hampshire Junior Medal Final. Please congratulate Leah on her phenomenal season!

Think horseback riding sounds fun? Join DS equestrian!

We are looking for riders of all levels and any riding discipline. Our team consists of both riders and ground team members. Riders must have a horse (owned, leased, borrowed, etc), but ground team members do not need a horse. Instead, the ground team competes in a written horsemanship class and other in-hand classes. Our sport occurs in the spring term and earns DS athletic credit. Horse shows take place at Tack Shack in Fremont, NH on weekends throughout April and early May, culminating in state championships in mid-May. DS equestrian will host practices in March and early April, location TBD. There is a fee charged through the Derryfield account of $100 for riders and $10 for ground team members; this covers all practice and show fees. Please contact Dr. Moon if you are interested!
