The Matarese Commons

A Place of Gathering & Connection

Healthy Choices

Derryfield is committed to offering a food service program that provides students the short-term fuel and long-term habits and education needed for wellness and top performance. The Matarese Commons celebrates a culture of wholesome eating and provides the best possible nutrition for growing bodies and active lives.

Safe Choices for your Diet

Food safety is of paramount importance to Derryfield and Flik—each member of our community is provided access to the Nutrislice app. Flik builds their menus a month in advance, and with fresh scratch cooking, they know each ingredient used to make the meals provided. Families and students are able to look at menus and identify food allergies, empowering students to move through the dining experience with knowledge and confidence about their food choices.

We’re Almost There!

Why We Gave

“The Dining Commons will provide a space for communal meals between staff and students. Eating and socializing together provides an opportunity for collaboration, connection, and communication, which ultimately strengthen bonds and fuel an environment of togetherness.  It is amazing to see The Commons evolve from a dream to reality, and supporting the growth and development of this was an easy decision to make.” – Drs. Karen and Andrew Wu
